Burns Night Piper
The Authentic Scottish Touch That Makes Your Burns Night Truly Unforgettable
A Burns Night supper without a piper is like a dram without a toast. The skirl of the Great Highland Bagpipe is not merely tradition — it is the very heartbeat of the evening, the moment that transforms a dinner into a genuine celebration of Scottish culture, heritage, and the immortal genius of Robert Burns.
As a professional Highland Piper with over 25 years of experience, I have performed at Burns Night suppers, Scottish-themed dinners, and Celtic celebrations throughout Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, and South Wales. I bring not only musical excellence but a thorough understanding of the traditions and ceremony that make these evenings so special.
What I Provide on Burns Night
Piping In the Haggis
The centrepiece of any Burns Night is the ceremonial piping in of the haggis. I lead the procession with full ceremony — playing a rousing march as the chef carries the haggis into the room, arriving at the top table for the Address to a Haggis. This moment never fails to bring the house to its feet.
Pre-Dinner Piping & Guest Arrival
I can pipe guests in as they arrive, setting the tone for the evening with a selection of Scottish marches, airs, and traditional tunes. This is a wonderful way to build anticipation and create an immediate sense of occasion.
Post-Dinner Performance
Following dinner, I can provide a short performance of Highland music — jigs, reels, strathspeys, slow airs and laments — giving guests a chance to fully appreciate the artistry of the bagpipe in a more relaxed setting.
Full Evening Packages
For larger events and formal dinners, I offer a full evening package combining arrival piping, the haggis ceremony, and a post-dinner performance. Please enquire for details and pricing.

Why Authentic Piping Matters
Burns Night is steeped in tradition, and your guests will notice the difference between a competent professional and a piper who merely goes through the motions. With 25 years of experience performing at these events, I understand the ceremony, the timing, and the music that makes the evening work. I collaborate closely with your Master of Ceremonies or event organiser to ensure everything flows perfectly.
Whether you are hosting an intimate dinner for twenty or a grand civic Burns Supper for several hundred, I provide the same impeccable standard of performance and professionalism.
Burns Night Serving Herefordshire & Beyond
I travel throughout Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire, and South Wales for Burns Night and Scottish events. For larger or more formal occasions, I am also available further afield — please enquire.
